4. I also wish for news of indictment every day!!

Sep 2012

I'm glad it isn't happening during the DNC because I wouldn't want any distraction from our absolutely wonderful convention--especially for example Michelle's speech and President Obama's acceptance speech.

But next week would be perfect IMHO. I heard only rumors that the indictment would happen in Sept. and that it would be happening "soon." I can't verify that for obvious reasons, but I hope it is not delayed for any reason. I so long for justice in this regard!!---It seems like quite a bittersweet road to justice!!! The DOJ and FBI certainly want air tight cases, but on the other hand years have gone by since the DOJ began it's investigation and at some point justice delayed is justice denied! One reason for the delay is that more and more corruption has been uncovered and there was/is a mountain of evidence and material to sift through.
The defense has filed many frivolous motions to delay as much as possible because they know that to delay is to deny hence they can remain in control as long as possible to enact as much ALEC legislation as they possibly can.
I sympathize with anyone in their longing for the end of this!!

MILWAUKEE (AP) - A final pre-trial hearing has been postponed for Kevin D. Kavanaugh, a former associate to Gov. Scott Walker who's accused of embezzling about $42,000 from veteran groups.

The 62-year-old has pleaded not guilty to felony theft and fraud charges. His pre-trial hearing Tuesday morning was rescheduled to Friday. His trial is scheduled to start next month.

Before Walker was elected governor he was the Milwaukee County executive. In that role he appointed Kavanaugh to the county Veterans Service Commission.

Prosecutors say Kavanaugh and another former Walker associate stole donations intended to help military veterans and their families.

Kavanaugh was charged as part of a secret, so-called John Doe investigation into activity in Walker's office. Walker has not been charged and has said he's not a target of the investigation.

11. What Kavanaugh's attorney said at the pretrial today
Fri Sep 7, 2012, 12:25 PM
Sep 2012

From the Journal-Sentinel:

"Mr. Kavanaugh has said all along .?.?. he distributed money to veterans," rather than keep it for himself, Hartley said following a pretrial hearing before Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Michael Goulee. Kavanaugh's trial was set for Oct. 8 and is expected to last a week or more.

Kavanaugh, who lives in Cudahy, told an investigator "he disbursed the (Purple Heart) funds in the form of cash to keep the recipients' identities confidential," according to a criminal complaint in the case. The complaint says Kavanaugh was heavily in debt and stole the Purple Heart money. ...

Timothy Russell, a former Walker staffer, also faces felony charges of embezzling more than $20,000 in Operation Freedom funds.

Seems like he could have kept records at the time showing the date and amount of the disbursement of organization funds, if not the name of the recipient. If he were halfway competent, that is.

WUWM NEWS | Sep 10, 2012

Late last week, attorneys finalized details for the Oct. 8 trial of Kevin Kavanaugh. He's charged with embezzling $42,000 from a vets' program while helping manage donations raised through an initiative of former Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker.

Later this year, trial begins for Timothy Russell. He's accused of stealing donations earmarked for military veterans and two political campaigns. The charges stem back to the days when Russell was an aide to then County Executive Walker.

The DA has filed charges against other people who were associated with now Governor Walker and granted immunity to others, as part of an ongoing John Doe probe. It began well over two years ago.

WUWM's Bob Bach asked UWM Criminal Justice Professor Stan Stojkovic, if the lack of a conclusion after all this time, is meaningful.
