(6,009 posts)First, thanks to Scott Wanker I just can't afford it.
Second, my heart just isn't in it this year. I'm heartsick after the way the state party treated my husband in this last election cycle. He stepped up and took over the county chairmanship after our chair jumped ship to become a judge (btw he's a great judge and misses being able to come to the convention). Then he stepped up to run against the bug-eyed idiot (Galloway) for senator - after repeatedly asking our current rep if she was going to run and be told firmly and often no. He then stepped aside after she changed her mind. He then ran for the now open rep seat.
As chair he strongly recommended sponsoring two slots at EMERGE, then one of those women came back and ran against him in a primary. At which point the republican's got involved in the primary and pushed him out of the running because he was the stronger of the two dems running. So you can see I'm a little disappointed in whole system right now.
How do I know the repukes got involved - my FIL was at a city sponsored meeting in Oshkosh and he happened to sit at a table of repukes and they were talking about up coming elections across the state. He asked what they heard about Johnson in Marathon county and they said don't worry we took care of him.
Third, I think I would have found the money somehow if I weren't so sad about the second point since I'm the one who strongly encouraged him to run in the first place.

(18,964 posts)I'm not involved with the local party anymore either...we need new leadership from top to bottom and a fesh, new face to run against Snotty Scotty next year...I don't see either right now.
