Canada, U.K. to cut costs by sharing embassies abroad

Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird and British Foreign Secretary William Hague will sign an agreement to open joint Canada-U.K. diplomatic missions abroad in an effort to extend each country's diplomatic reach while cutting costs, CBC News has learned.

The British Foreign Secretary will meet with Baird in Ottawa on Monday where the two will sign an agreement that will in part result in Canada and the U.K. sharing embassies or high commissions in countries where one has a diplomatic presence and the other does not.

Hague told CBC News, "as the Prime Minister [David Cameron] said when addressing the Canadian parliament last year: 'We are two nations, but under one Queen and united by one set of values.'"

"We have stood shoulder to shoulder from the great wars of the last century to fighting terrorists in Afghanistan and supporting Arab Spring Nations like Libya and Syria. We are first cousins."

It is now time for Canada to grow up. We have had it with royal this and royal that. When Harper was still in diapers we got a flag. We got an anthem. In spite of the Loyalists in Ontario! We got rid of the Royal Military! Hiller achieved it all for us.

Now we have a divisive ROC politician leading the lemmings down the path to anarchy!

Out with him and his followers and in with Canadians. And if the Canadians reside in the PQ then the ROC must decide where they want North America to go!
