(13,616 posts)Putting aside the snide snipes SOME of your countrypeople make, the way you have been developing is disturbing. This is the sort of stuff that used to go on below your border.

Things will change soon though!!!! (I hope).
I haven't seen the snide snipes, but I'm sorry for them. I have seen plenty against us though, if that's any consolation.
I dare nto names names, but there were soem Canadians who go out of theuir way to say "we rule, you suck", simply put, this octopus does nto care if it eats yanks or canucks, or even Chinese, we are all just food to them.

(751 posts)... to increase the unemployment rate for the Security Apparatus in this country, we might truly begin to become a "just society".
Btw, I do recall googling and finding some article published by Yves by accident...he is a bit of a peculiar guy.

Canada is either going to allow the best and brightest to excel and prosper, or they are going to face the long-term consequences. My story is certainly different than most, but then again, most who have been targeted by the security apparatus haven't been made aware of this. My guess is that our nation is ill-equipped to compete globally and thus the situation will only get worse and those rewarded via nepotism and such will have their lunch eaten when the competition on the global stage opens up (Blackberry anyone?).
Trades and the like are fine and dandy for some, I would suggest that this is extremely short-sighted and it does little for the nation moving forward. If a nation wants to be successful, they need to provide the environment that ALLOWS the best to be successful. Not those given positions for political reasons or because "my pappy" was doing the same thing.
I think that the more borders are broken down not only to the movement of capital, but the movement of labour and skills, the better. If a country such as Canada does not provide or even allow a particular person to thrive and operate freely in the market, that person can and SHOULD be given the opportunity to move to another country and help that other nation excel. We are a restricted, over regulated, over policed nation and over-controlling country that can never boast the largest successes in the Western world even though we have some well educated and driven citizens. Why is this the case?
Some people like to think small and local, God love them. Others have larger ambitions and are driven to explore where the highest competition exists, the bigger fish and largest challenges. If some Canadians are up to the task, then move aside and allow those who do want to make a larger impact the freedom to do so.
If there is any honest advice I would give an ambition, creative, and talented young person in Canada, it would be to leave this country and forge relations and opportunities elsewhere.
