I'll give the Liberals credit for one thing, they are the masters of manipulating perception. They rightly scared swing voters away from Hudak in droves. Now we're stuck with more of the same, except this time its with virtual impunity.

I was really hoping for a breakthrough for the NDP.

3. Honestly

I think people were just pissed that an election was called at all. In a minority government, if you aren't the party in power, if you are going to bring down the government you had better be sure the people are just as sick of the party in power as you are, IMO. And we all know polling hasn't been reliable worth shit for awhile now in provincial politics here in Canada.

But yeah, I agree. What's encouraging is that the Liberals had to shift hard left to win. Now let's just hope they govern like that and keep some of those promises. Anyway, I shouldn't complain...someday Alberta will shift left. Someday...in 1000 years or so....for now I'll just stay jealous of the rest of the country's elections.

2. Horwath screwed the pooch, and Hudak was too wrong to win

Liberals and NDP made advances over the Tories' losses in this election. Good for them.

Horwath really could have made much bigger advances if she hadn't triggered the election when she did, especially on a budget that was much more catered to NDP planks than it needed to be.

It does look like Ontario's sick of dirty attack ads and fuzzy math from Hudak, though.

Is it time for a big swing left? Dare we hope that the Toronto municipal election with go a similar way? Dare we dream that Harper's cons will be decimated in the next federal election? Will it come soon enough to save us?

5. I want to go back

to the 1993 federal election, but without the Bloc

Would be great to see the NDP forming the government, but far more likely (under Trudeau) that it would be Liberals with the NDP as the official opposition.

At least, in my own little dream world. I don't think that the HarperCons will get quite that soundly trounced, but I think their time as a majority is done.

6. I've become a pessimist where elections are concerned too

the last provincial election here in BC kicked me right in the gut. I still can't believe the Crispy Clark "liberals" won it, mind you paid for by Alberta and Chinese money; a lousy NDP campaign and the stupidity of a small majority who actually bothered to vote.

7. The more things change, the more they stay the same!!!

Personally, I am totally dumbfounded by the latest Ontario election's result.

Yes, I do agree that there is a questionable similarity between the BC and the Ontario Liberal's rises to power.

I believe that with a single backhand stroke, both Liberal parties are catering to the Energy Consortium groups controlling the Environmental resources in this country.

In BC, it is the Tar Sand project from Alberta, whereas here in Ontario, it is the Solar Energy.

In all, I was looking for a real change this time around.

But I guess, I'll have to cope with more of the same old corruptions and deceptions, which have slowly killed Democracy and Free Speech in this Country!!!

8. I'm like many others am incensed the HOrvath forced an election. Has she stayed

the Liberals would have been under pressure to fulfill the budget, if Wynn failed then Horvath would have been to campaign on that. As it now stands the Liberals have no pressure whasoever on them. The only reason why Horvath did what she did is that it Wynn was planting herself left of centre, in oather words in Horvath's territory so Horvath saw this as a way to block that move at the expense of everyone in Ontario.
