"Poutine" is the easiest way to approximate the name Putin for francophones. Many English sounds are not spelled the same in French. Good example is Tchad for Chad. The "ch" sound is always soft for us.

The funny thing is that poutine is a comfort food for Quebeckers. Basically fried potatoes covered with white cheese and then covered with hot chicken gravy. Tasty but not particularly good for you. We ate a lot of it growing up.

I cannt stand any man who creates mayhem and death to feed his own ego. He deserves to be insulted. Putin is the political equivalent to the nutrition found in poutine. Apologies to poutine the dish, which I actually enjoy.

I think the latest polls show (Liberal leader) Justin Trudeau trailing Harper in popularity, but with the Conservatives falling short of a majority government. If the fall is short enough, there's always the possibility -- or rather hope -- that the Liberals and NDP could form a coalition government. But I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.

I'm still hopeful that Tom Mulcair and the NDP can gain ground. At this point, we're still at least a few months away from an election. That's plenty of time for the Liberals to piss people off. Eve Adams*, anyone?

*Does it strike anyone else as portentous that Trudeau has chosen to cast his lot with someone whose name represents two of the biggest losers in the bible? Just sayin'.

but desperate or opportunistic on both of their accounts. Adams doesn't want to go down with the ship, Trudeau wants every seat at any cost. Doesn't reflect well on either party's values, unless they simply have the same values anyway, which I what I firmly believe.
