A quiet American invasion
If you're a would-be Canadian parent with a patriotic bent and you're looking for help conceiving, there could be cause for concern. That's because there's a shortage in this country — of Canadian sperm.
Toronto-based fertility doctor Alfonso Del Valle, of Repro Med — The Toronto Institute for Reproductive Medicine, says the majority of donated sperm in Canada is imported from the U.S.... http://www.cbc.ca/radio/the180/refugee-cessation-canadian-sperm-supply-the-case-against-national-polls-1.3242699/why-the-majority-of-sperm-donations-in-canada-are-from-the-u-s-1.3242843 We really need to stop exporting production of things that could so easily be made here. ![]()

1. Or at least find a better quality of donor.
Not just getting cheap, low quality US-made 'product'.

5. I did wonder about that as well
The amusingly titled article "Alien Baby: Is Your Zygote American Enough" answers some of this.
http://www.psmag.com/politics-and-law/alien-baby-zygote-citizenship-immigration-american-79494 But the article is a year old and the rules are complex and changing. But I wouldn't be at all surprised if they were eventually deemed "citizens for tax purposes." |

7. So if a Canadian citizen comes to the U.S. to donate sperm...
and that sperm is used to impregnate an undocumented Mexican woman, would the child have triple citizenship: Mexican, American, and Canadian?

9. But what if a space alien abducts a woman carrying a baby from a Canadian sperm doner who...
... well, let's just say that it gets complicated.
