Crash victims also include Texas pilot and wife, their 3 children

A pilot from Houston, Texas, his family and two adults from Canada died in a small plane crash in Kingston, Ont., Wednesday evening. 

Pilot Otabek Oblokulov, his wife, their children ages three, 11 and 15, and another adult couple, Bobomurod Nabiev and his wife who lived in the Toronto area, all died on board, friends of the victims told CBC News.  

Nabiev and his partner were permanent residents of Canada and originally from Uzbekistan. CBC was not able to immediately confirm her name.  

The Piper PA-32 was headed to Quebec City from Buttonville Municipal Airport in Markham, Ont., when it made contact with Kingston's flight service station and crashed northwest of the city's core sometime around 5 p.m. ET, according to the Transportation Safety Board (TSB).

2. How awful for their families and friends. :-(

I wonder what happened? I was there visiting family just a few miles east from where this happened, when it happened. It was lightly raining and the winds were just starting up but on the ground conditions weren't terrible.

3. They interviewed on pilot who said he would have thought twice or three

times about flying in that weather. It wasn't as windy as the forecasters predicted apparently, but it was windy enough. I guess. Very sad.

4. You can look the pilot up in the FAA database

He had a private pilot certificate with no instrument or other ratings received in May 2018.

The ceiling was reportedly low and he would be required to stay below it to remain VFR.

Most likely he ended up in the clouds and became disoriented. It happens all too often with low time pilots. It’s tragic he took 6 other people with him.

5. They interviewed a woman who lived nearby and she said it was foggy.

They had 7 people for 6 seats. One was 3 years old. Very sad. Very sad.
