Twitter restricted Bernier's account for 12 hours after he urged followers to 'play dirty' with journalists
Twitter restricted People's Party of Canada Leader Maxime Bernier's account, preventing him from posting any new messages for 12 hours after he used the platform to encourage his supporters to "play dirty" with journalists covering his campaign. The offending tweets singled out three reporters, calling them "idiots" and describing their efforts to question him as "disgusting smear jobs." Bernier tweeted out their email addresses and encouraged his followers to "play dirty." CTV journalist Christy Somos responded to the attacks online. In a tweet describing "what your inbox looks like after Bernier tweets about you," Somos posted a screenshot of a threatening email she was sent. snip Somos tweeted out a link to story she wrote for CTV that shed some light on the matter. The story quotes a number of experts drawing links between the PPC and extremist and racist views and was posted immediately after her tweet containing the threatening email. more https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/maxime-bernier-twitter-threatening-tweets-1.6186915 He's really working to become Canada's trump and gather up all the racists, extremists, white supremacists under his 'new' party.

1. These conservative fascists...
...really hate being questioned about their violent ways from credited journalists. Hence the attempted smears and stochastic terrorism.
As this incident proves...their leader WILL threaten violence and sic his thugs on folks that ask questions he doesn't want answered. |

2. Yep, he is a real piece of work...
He couldn't even win his own riding but he and his party did serve to pull some votes from the Cons because the far extremes of the Con party gravitate toward violence and racist actions and Bernier's party provides that outlet.

3. My brother became a supporter of Bernier in the last election
I have cut off all contact with him, including FB because of his postings.

4. Yikes, my sympathies...
The strife in families caused by people like him and his party is heartbreaking. It does mirror what is happening in the States because of Trump.

5. It is beyond comprehension to me, how he got sucked into all this
my only explanation is from wintering in Arizona in the winters??? I may never know because I don't have the interest in finding out or talking to him, because it is all he brings up in the most innocent conversation.

6. We do know that Arizona certainly has their trumpites and...
anti-vaxxers so that could well be at least part of the reason. Living in Alberta, there are certainly home-grown ones here that are misinformed by social media at best and proudly declaring their racist, white supremacist views at worst.

7. Yes, I live in Alberta as well but my brother lives on Vancouver Island
which is not a hotbed of racists, if anything that is green party country.

8. Wow, you're right, Vancouver Island isn't known as a hotbed at all...
It is definitely NDP territory with some potential for the Green party in the future. It really does raise the question as to how your brother has been convinced to support the far right.
