Mallick: Lori Douglas scandal shows how easy it is to become a judge
The checkup into the background of Canadian senior judges before they’re appointed is as light as a feather duster, it emerged at the Lori Douglas inquiry Friday.
And with that revelation alone, the Canadian Judicial Council committee looking into how Douglas was appointed in 2005 — despite the existence of online nude photos and the alleged sexual harassment of her lawyer-husband’s client — has justified its existence.

This is far more than simply lurid, it is appalling. And maybe... just maybe this sort of thing is a clue as to how rulings like the drunk driving killer cop who got one month with home monitoring. The same cop who will undoubtedly get off for tazering that poor man to death in the airport. Not that he's even on trial for doing that, just for lying about something to do with it.
And how the complaints and allegations of female mounties are belittled, twisted and then ignored. This too will be swept under the carpet. I think the RCMP like this shit, if cops have sick stuff on the judges who is left to judge them?

That said (Admittedly I haven't really been all that interested in the lurid details of the Mallick case), I do believe that generally someones personal life shouldn't really affect their job-worthiness, but rather be based on their tangible qualifications. But then on the other hand there is the rumor that Vic Toewes wants to become a Manitoba judge..... 
I do get completely outraged however at the double standards that law enforcement enjoys. And politicians. And big corporations. And the media. And...... ah, screw it, I better quit before my blood pressure rises.
