2018 AZ Gubernatorial and 2020 AZ US Senate Special Election.

If David Garcia-D unseats Doug Ducey-R in the 2018 AZ Governors Race and McCain-R vacates the US Senate after Garcia-D is inaugurated, Does Garcia-D appoint a Democrat or Republican to the seat(2008 WY- Freudenthal-D appointed Barrasso-R to succeed Thomas-R)?

If that is the case, David Garcia will likely appoint Kelli Ward or Joe Arpaio to the seat. nkpolitics1212 Jul 2018 #2

as the one being replaced. So, in this scenario, David Garcia would be obligated to appoint a Republican.

Both of these Republicans are highly unelectable. AZ is a state Democrats can win with a right candidate.- Steve Farley-D or Mark Kelly-D or Greg Stanton-D
