I need a some assistance.

I know VERY LITTLE about computers.

My computer had trouble starting.

It ran start up repair.

I ran system restore.

I use Internet Explorer and I have a plain, not Chrome Google toolbar.

My spell check, automatic translate, pop-up blocker, etc. have disappeared.

How do I get all my buttons back ?

Also it said an error occurred and it will not let me turn on Windows Defender. I have tried repeatedly.

I have tried everything I can possibly think of.

I tried tools, settings, safety, help, and restore system.

All assistance will be greatly appreciated.

1. Well, if you ran a system restore you should have wiped out everything and been back

to a new machine with no data.

In your browser, try selecting, in the upper right corner, to the left of the X, the two boxes that sit on each other - that should maximize the window.

OR try holding these key down in this order

ALT - Space Bar - then press Enter or Alt- Spacebar x

If not -

Do you see the menu line across the top (File Edit View Favorites Tools Help).

If not, right click on the that upper bar and select Menu bar.

From here you will have access to Tools > Manage Add Ons - Spell Checker should be there and enabled, yes? (This is where you can add those add-ins back, btw)

If you are still having difficulty, there should be a Help menu item. If you select that and then "About" - what version does it say you are running? And are you running XP, Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8?

Let us know.

I tried everything you suggested numerous times.

I finally uninstalled Google Toolbar and reinstalled it.

It is working now.

Thank you.

3. Oh, I'm glad you figured that out. I rarely run toolbars, and that would have taken me a bit
