Driver question

I got a new Lenovo laptop, which has it's own system checker. It's Windows 7, because I'm just not ready for anything else. I updated Windows today, 140 updates. The system checker then said Intel Technology Access Filter Driver isn't installed and can't be updated.

I think the driver has something to do with Plug and Play, but I'm confused. Does anyone know off the top of their head if I need this driver? The only things I plug into the laptop are a thumb drive for file back-up and I'm buying a DVD burner. I'm pretty sure both of them are Plug and Play. Thanks.

On edit, the DVD burner is NOT Plug and Play, it comes with software.

2. Plug and play just means the OS will recognize the hardware and install the driver.

To use it for burning you have to install burning software. But it will play CDs and DVDs just fine.

I've had more problems when Windows update installed a 3rd party driver than from any other update. If I really need a hardware driver updated, then I go directly to the manufacturer's website and download the driver there. In 99+% of cases if the hardware was working just fine with the existing driver, don't fix it.

This is why I'm so hesitant about installing Windows 10, because I'm fearful my printer, etc. won't work. I appreciate the explanation.

and see if it is compatible and if they have drivers for Win 10
