1- Click Start button in lower left hand part of your screen

2- Click Settings

3- click the Network and Internet icon

4- click Ethernet (assuming you are not using wireless)

5- click Adapter Options

6- right click your Ethernet connection

7- click Diagnose

8- tell us what you found

If you're doing wireless, we'll go down a different path.

That lead me to fixing it!

Earlier...I was on the phone with THREE Comcast people over an hour and they couldn't find the problem!

My husband has been trying for weeks to get MIL's laptop hooked consistently to the WiFi at her nursing home. All he, his brother and a nephew (who is Microsoft certified) have been able to figure out is that it is a problem with Windows 10.

Any advice will be appreciated!

1- Click Start button in lower-left hand portion of screen

2- click Settings

3- click the Wi-Fi icon (it's the same one as Network & Internet)

4- click Ethernet

5- click Network and Sharing Center

6- on that window, click Troubleshoot Problems

7- on that new window, click Network Adapter

8- on that window, click the Next button

9- now click All Network Adapters and then click Next

10- If that doesn't fix the problem, I would suggest posting in the official Windows 10 group at Microsoft
using my thread here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/109515719

Good luck!

It may not be Windows 10. It turns out that unless the laptop is in the day room at the nursing home she never gets to the sign in page for the wireless system. I'm not clear if once she signs in she can maintain a connection. She may have to do her web surfing in the day room.

But it is all good - she's improving enough she may be able to go home though she will need health care workers on a daily basis. That is MUCH better than the prospects of two months ago when we didn't think she'd ever leave ICU.
