Microsoft Word for iPad

I downloaded it based on the reviews.
I go to write a document and says I can't edit.

They want me to "sign in".
I do not want to share any docs online.

Anyone use this program?
Am I forced to create an online account?
Any other word processing apps that work for iPad?
