Google Chrome and Flash, what a PAIN

I wish there was a way to make it work, I have mine like this


"block sites from running flash is NOT turned o"

and yet I get that deal where I cant use it, adding a website to allowed sites wont work

What can I do>?

1. you could try this

Also, Please try the following:

launch chrome
navigate to chrome://flags/#prefer-html-over-flash
The flag is most likely set to Default
change the flag to Disabled
relaunch Chrome
Does Flash content display now?

most say disabled.

Not sure which one of the dozens I am looking for in the list.

Many sites like MSNBC require Flash, is the problem

looks like the settings in chrome changed recently. I haven't looked in a while. I don't see the relevant setting there any more.

4. ok this one is a little harder to describe.

if you look where you type the url in the browser. there is a lock or other symbol at the beginning. if you click on that when on the page you want to view there should be an option to alow or block flash. check and see if it shows as allowed on the site you are trying to visit when you are on that site.

5. Oh yeah, dealt with that a hundred or more times.

sometimes it will let you temporarily use it, sometimes not

I guess I dont understand why such a common tool is so hard to use on this browser.

6. Flash is quite possibly the most dangerous thing on the internet

It is responsible for the vast majority of malware and other malicious stuff. The are trying to get rid of it.

Anyway last guess.

Did you check to see if your flash is updated?

On your computer, open Chrome.
In the address bar at the top, enter chrome://components and press Enter.
Look for "Adobe Flash Player."
Click Check for update.
If you see "Component not updated" or "Component updated," you're on the latest version.
Go back to the page with the Flash content. If it doesn't open automatically, at the top left, click Reload Reload.

7. out of curiosity is there a specific thing you are trying to view you would be willing to share

8. MSNBC is one of them when you go to watch it LIVE

Earlier today it was tickets for an event, I wasnt going to buy them I was just curious.

I was unaware of how dangerous flash is so I just wont use it, thanks!

so it works initially when you first reset then subsequent tries fail.

Do you sign into chrome?

I suspect you have a bad extension interfering if so. When you reset chrome it clears all extensions but if you sign in it will resync them with whatever was there before.

if you don't sign into chrome then that probably is not it.

If you don't then I would take a hard look at any security software you run. try disabling it and seeing if flash loads then.

try disabling all of them. then testing the flash site. if it works enable them one at a time and recheck.

signing out should remove the extensions.
