not very technically proficient - new Adobe download stops videos

I just installed a new Adobe flash-player plug-in and Adobe Flash-player Active X.
Now about half the videos I go to come up with an error.
I also just downloaded the newest firefox to see if that would remedy the situation, but no

I am fairly technically incompetent - any help?

if you're use IE 7 or earlier, this may cause a problem. Also, make sure you're up to date on Windows Media Player(media player 11). If this doesn't resolve the issue try VLC Media Player-http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html

  1. Toggling the Hardware Acceleration settings of the player;
  2. completely uninstalling Flash, rebooting, and then reinstalling Flash;
  3. reverting to a previous version by uninstalling, rebooting, and installing an older version.
The first two are not too difficult technically speaking, in fact this Hulu help page outlines what to do:

   http://www.hulu.com/support/article/166614#support-article

Option three is somewhat confusing because of the way Adobe organizes their Flash archives - usually you have to download a fairly large zip file and find the actual version you need inside that to install. So I would suggest trying the first two options and if they don't seem to rectify the situation, reply for more guidance on the third if you want to try that.

about hardware acceleration. Particularly if you have older hardware. You may have to consider getting a newer video driver specific to your video card.

As versions of Adobe flash evolve, they are not always forgiving of legacy video hardware. Try playing flash files using a lower resolution that is not HD.

One thing i do at times is increase storage size in the adobe settings.

One peron described doing so above and i don't feel comfortable trying it.
Have been using chrome and IE as a sub right now.
Firefox seems unstable anymore.

http://www.oldapps.com/flash_player.php

good site for for old drivers and applications. keep in mind some old apps have security issues.

the two ways to remove the previous versions are

a: from firefox Tools->add-ons->plugins just disable the one you don't like. you don't actually have to remove. Personally, i have several versions of the same plugin(not flash btw) and only have one enabled. firefox will probably have to be restarted afterwards.

b: from control-panel>applications and programs>remove-button.
