Windows 10 update permanent removal of adobe flash-WHY? I have blocked the update

But it will not let me delete it.

All I do is use my PC like a television and I don't want to loose any player compatibility. In the past Flash was a must have to watch video's so I'm hesitant to just roll over for windows 10. Hell they just issued a security patch for adobe a month ago. Why push a permanent removal with no opt out?

By Adobe too.

It’s been coming for years. HTML5 has replaced it

A supposed flash patch a month ago was probably a scam. I would run a malware check

I don’t know the details, but I don’t think Adobe even supports it anymore.

The update that is. I don't want to loose any viewing ability but I guess it is now obsolete. I can relate.....

I lost Windows Firewall and hence lost Mail as it wont work without Windows firewall. And couldn't reload Firewall as the Services for "Windows Defender Firewall Authorization Driver" was missing. The wdfsrv.dll file was still there but apparently there is a difference in version numbers and I couldn't get it to work.

So I reloaded Windows and lost a ton of apps that I had to reload. I am almost back to normal.

Adobe Flash went end-of-life at the end of 2020. The December 2020 patch is likely the very last. Most websites use HTML5 these days.

I've only encountered Flash content on old sites on the Wayback Machine. There are stories of a few sites that went down when Flash was pulled.

Flash had a checkered security history, and most people don't miss it.

Nobody is using flash on their websites anymore. The transition away began many years ago. You won't miss it. I promise you.

I hate the push nature of it. But I guess it is not needed.

I had the last update take about a hour and I had to fix my settings. I never use the MS browser like never ever. I just use chrome and they didn't like that wanted me to sign up etc... I always bypass the MS sign in. Last update tried to push me onto the browser -No effin way.

Ruffle is an Open Source project that plays SWF content.

https://ruffle.rs/

Archive.org is using Ruffle and webassembly to make old flash content available.

Just say goodbye to adobe flash.
