Hey you young popular kids... how do I use tumblr...?

Im a gen Xer and have gotten very settled into my social media use. I dont really do much twitter, maybe scroll around once a week. I belong to a few FB groups etc...

I asked one of my fanfiction writers groups about where to find illustrators in the group or fandom to see if they be interested in collaboration...and everyone says tumblr and Im like...what? who?

I have an account but have no idea how to start getting it going... or finding people, especially ones I know.

Should this be something I am blogging in daily? what's the point? Is it like Twitter and Instagram?

Any words of wisdom would help! Lol

... My artist friends (from illustrators to painters to sculptors to fashion designers) use it to showcase their work.

But, of course there is no blogging or long-form text really. I glanced over the original post... Instagram is not the right choice for fan fiction. My bad. Sorry.

5. LOL, irt to social media, I think back over 20 years and the 1 constant I have is DU.

Visit a few places like Digg and Boing-Boing, but DU is the only place I spend serious time.

3. I think it it used more to link fandoms and artists more than anything.

I read stories on a differnt platform that my friends write for fun (AO3), but most of them have tumblr handles too.

I guess a way to start is by going to their other posts and then linking up... seems pretty typical.
