Uber app keeps sending verification codes to my landline but they never arrive.

Then they keep sending them to my cell. They arrive an hour late, all at once. In fact there are now 9 of them. They arrive so late they're apparently obsolete.

Then when I try to sign into the app, it tells me too many requests try again later. This has been going on for half an hour. Later? for a ride?

I have no idea how to edit my phone number. I think I need to swap cell/landline.

No. Landline would be useless. Uber only works on mobile devices. Dream Girl Jul 2021 #4

A "1" does not mean landline, just that it precede the area code.all phone numbers begin with 1 Dream Girl Jul 2021 #12
I believe the "1" is the country. nt Phoenix61 Jul 2021 #5

They keep putting a 1 in front of the cell number, and no 1 for the landline.

With signup I assumed because they started with '1' they wanted landline.

I never gave them me cell number at first. They picked it up somewhere else.

7. "Enter your mobile number"

Then it shows a US flag and a '1' in front of the place to enter the number. Nobody uses a 1 anymore. I now realize you must use 1 for landline calls, but you may also use it for cell phone calls. The signup didn't specify mobile #, it just asked for number and put a 1 in front of it.

But Uber has still locked out my cell number for an undetermined amount of time.

I think I'd best start over with a new email address for signup. But I have to use the same mobile number.

Thanks for the help.

set it up to use. I’m guessing it pulled the cell phone number from your phone. Maybe delete the app and start over?

What does later mean? Tomorrow. Asking because I need a ride to the hospital.

Update .... doesn't matter. Uber rides are unavailable in my remote area. Whether that is now, or permanently, I have no idea.

What a joke of a company.

Nada. But I can use Uber online from a PC, same information. And it is installed on my phone now, and I filled Uber Wallet, so hopefully when I need it, someone will be there to help.
