No up and down side bar on gmail.

With no side or bottom side bar I can't read my Gmail / Google mail. I only have this problem with mail...not the internet. It seemed to happen quickly. I assume I hit some key that erased this option. I tried restore, rebooted the system, but still can't fix this problem. Need help!

Click on the gear, upper right > Settings > Settings
Change the number to show more 'conversations'.

Mine has -
Show 50 conversations per page
Show 250 contacts per page

I just fixed it by making the print smaller. Then the slide bars showed up. Thank goodness...now I can read mu emails again.
