8 mo old Roku failed to connect to wifi-all attempts to fix failed.

Wonder if anyone else has had a Roku not connecting to wifi.

I have tried restarting router.

Restarting Roku

Factory reset Roku

Using secret code-
Home button 5x, FF,Play,Rev,Play,FF

Set ping on
---

Secret code for restart Home X5, Up(1),Rew (2)FF(2)

Nada zip zilch

Went to latest from Roku advice forum. Router settings!. I checked mine were all compatible.

Lucky as it was under year old Amazon gave me credit for the unit.

I was tempted to get another Roku-but after they cancel older machines and now the not connecting issues- I went with a Chromecast that connect to the back of the TV via HDMI port. Love em or hate 'em Chrome has bailed me out twice at least saving my backup for free etc.

Anyone else Roku'd out?


09082022 update

The Chromecast dongle works fine-but you have to sign in every time you turn it on. If it saved passwords no biggie. it doesn't. And the remote is basically unusable-no enter button or directional. Just a blank circle. I used it for a while till I came to the PIN entry. I was unable to tell what # it had entered. I yanked the damn thing.

Inoperable due to a stupid protocol I can't turn off (required password or pin to use) & a clunky remote. DUMB Google-very dumb.

Got the cheapest Roku & hope it lasts more than 8 months this tiime.

BTW, I hate Amazons offerings, Prime Videos sucks big time. But the hardware is excellent, and it will download any broadcast app and they run just fine.

3. I have a Roku tv.

It came with Roku already installed on it, so I didn't need to buy a separate device for it. I like it a lot. You can buy big Roku tvs at Walmart that are relatively cheap. The only problem I have with it is sometimes I'll be watching a show and a notice pops up that I need to connect to the wifi. So I'll go to the settings and connect to the internet and everything is fine after that. I paid about $300 for the tv several years ago; it's a 42 inch screen. Now you can get them for the same amount and have a 65 inch screen. If it quits, I'll probably buy another one.

4. I've had the HDMI type Roku stick for several years. Only problem is it overheats so I have to

position a small portable fan on the back of my tv throughout late spring and especially summer. But that has largely solved the problem.

No experience with the other ROKU units.
