Hi, I just recieved this computer, and I have questions about the sound?

My friend built this, and gave it to me, but I have no audio. the speakers are plugged in, but I have no audio. Do I have to go into my actual computer to turn them on? I have already tried the speaker position on the screen, and it shows me volume controls. But still no sound.

2. Go to your

control panel and then hardware and sound. Check the adjust system volume and manage audio devices under the sound settings. Under Manage audio devices it will show you if the speakers are being recognized.

Also on the right hand side of the bottom taskbar click on the little up arrow to customize the taskbar to show your volume control.

I was able to go into my control pannel and try to do what you have said. I'm glad to have made it this far with your help. I still don't have sound, and I have to go to work tonight. But, I will work on it latter, after I get home. Thanks again!

6. are the drivers loaded?

Ask your friend if he forgot to load the audio drivers.

7. There's a thin two-wire cable running from the speaker jack to the motherboard.

Is it plugged in?
