2. Well my son pressed the on button

a couple of times when he found it. It flashed and that was it. That probably fried it. Poor thing. He's out now and I can't drive (broken ankle, in a cast) so no damp rid. I put it in a zip lock bag of rice and will leave it alone until tomorrow night. Not very hopeful but it is worth a try. Tomorrow he can try to find the damp rid.

I'm at such a loss without it! I can't believe this happened.

Then, if nothing, take it to a Genius Bar. They are pretty good with this stuff.

AppleCare would help, but they may be able to get it going. I dropped a phone in the toilet (3s, I honk. Did the rice trick and it worked.

I checked it last night and it rang and went on. It wouldn't go off. The screen is shot--lines across it and what seems to be a bubble in the middle. Put it back in the ziplock bag. The battery must have died because the screen is off now. I also noticed that the Damp Rid is has lumps in it, sort of like when you are mixing a cake. Maybe it is absorbing more moisture. Will try again in about 12 hrs.

The screen has large water bubbles especially around the edges but otherwise good, no more lines.
It still has 1% of battery power left, the camera works, the mail hasn't come in. Some of the Damp Rid is stuck inside the ear plug and the charging outlet on the bottom. Tweezers can grab that. The flash on the back won't go off even with the phone off.
Things are improving, giving it more time.

intensive care bag. Cleaned out the outlets and charged her. Charged right up. Water under the glass is a little better but the light next to the camera won't go off. I didn't see anywhere to turn off the flash. I had an emergency flashlight which I deleted but it's still on even when she is totally off. I tried a phone call, a text, all the sounds, the mail came through. All of it works. Just have to figure out that light.

I'm amazed that it works so well.
She's going back to the bag. Her name is Sally btw.

to the flashlight. It's using up the battery (any android uses would give anything to have 63% left after 7hrs), otherwise totally usable. Some bubbles under the glass but she is going back in her rice/damp rid bag soon.
She'll need a trip to the Apple Store to fix that light. I'm going to have to live with a glowing pocket for a couple more weeks, I can't face the mall with this broken ankle.
