Well I think my 8 year old iMac just bit the dust......it's just black.....

I turn it on with the button on the back of the screen, it comes on with the little Apple icon, is on for about 5 sec then goes to black. I think it’s dead.

Still boots up and runs the Adobe suite of Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.

Slowly but it does. Use my iPad for everything now just can’t get rid of the tower, don’t know why.

They can save the data and maybe the machine. At least they'll tell you what's wrong—for free.

That's one advantage of having a Mac.

Could be the hard drive took a dump.. Time for a new one?? or a referb?? I got a referb iMac and it died after a week. Took it back to the genius bar and the manager just said
"give him a new one"...... Nice ! Good customer service IMHO.

Luckily my external hard drive had saved everything. No problems since.
