Getting rid of hyperlinks

The following comments apply when using a desktop computer with macOS.

Sometimes I need to copy some text from a web site. If there are hyperlinks in the text, I usually want to get rid of them. After exhaustive research, I have found a way to do this efficiently.

I start by highlighting the word in question. Then, in most applications, I hit ⌘K, which brings up a window with a box I can check to "remove" the link.

There's an alternative when I'm using the "Pages" word processor: after highlighting the word, I can choose

Format > Remove Link.

1. Will either of those methods remove multiple links all at once?

2. If there's a lot of links this is what I do

I open my mail client, Thunderbird to a new email. Right click and choose "paste without formatting." Then copy and paste.

I tried that with "Mail", but it doesn't give me the option to "paste without formatting."

5. You could probably use TextEdit to do that.

Either paste the text in a new document and change the format to plain text. Or maybe change the format of the document after creating it and then paste in the text.

I'm not by a Mac right now so I can't test this idea, but it's worth taking a minute to see if it would work.

I used to have a Mac many years ago, but haven't stayed current with the OS features - so if that doesn't work, you'll know why.

6. I tried Make7's method using TextEdit

Open TextEdit, go to Format, click "make plain text" paste your text and VOILA! no links.

7. Yes, that works for me too, but ...

Make7's method destroys ALL formatting, not just the links.

Sometimes I want to keep the original fonts, including sizes, colors, whether italics or bold, etc.

If there were lots of links, another method would be better.
