DU redirects to "loompasplace.com" - possible iOS malware?
(posting from computer support per suggestion)
Doing this from Safari on iPhone. The past day I keep getting hijacked from DU repeatedly. Understand if it's advertising, but worried that (a) it hijacks the browser session with no option to exit and (b) does it again if I close the window and come back again. I can't find anything useful so far on the redirect site, whatever loompasplace is. Figured it was worth checking to make sure I'm not dealing with some iOS variety malware

1. I've gotten the same redirect several times today as well.
If it’s nothing else it’s damned annoying.

6. So far so good & thank you
Now to see if this holds!
This was the advice to make it stop (and suggested adware blocker app of your choice preventatively): Here is a way to remove this intrusive bit of adware. Try this: * Turn on airplane mode * Open Safari * Tap the overlapped squares in the lower right * Close every page by tapping the "x" in the left upper corner of the page * When there are no pages left press HOME (On an iPhone X series swipe up from the bottom edge) and wait a couple of seconds * Double-press HOME (On an iPhone X series swipe up from the bottom edge and pause) * Swipe up on the safari image to kill it (On an iPhone X series touch and hold Safari, then swipe up) * Press HOME again (On an iPhone X series swipe up from the bottom edge) * Go to Settings/Safari and tap "Clear History and Website data" * Turn off Airplane mode |

7. Turn off Javascript or use the browser EPIC on your PC or Mac or DuckDuckGo on iPhone
Of course , when turning off Javascript, u wont be able to post.
I keep 2 browsers running all of the time. Omniweb is sort of behind the times, but I am starting a new evaluation. It was my main browser for a long time. On iPhones, I use DuckDuckGo a fair amount. |
