Sick of Windows spying on you? Go Linux

From ZDNET:

With Windows 10 snooping on your every keystroke, it's time to consider an alternative: the Linux desktop.

You can try to turn Windows 10's data-sharing ways off, but, bad news: Windows 10 will keep sharing some of your data with Microsoft anyway.

There is an alternative: Desktop Linux.

Ubuntu 14.04. I figure it's the most secure system I'll find and its FREE!

Just wish I knew how to use it like I can use Microsoft systems. I'm getting old and just not as able to absorb arcane details.

Nevertheless, I recommended Linux for anyone.

The Linux user experience has improved tremendously over the years but still it's more complex than Mac or Windows.

You have to be prepared to deal with the computer and make more decisions about what you want than with the other systems.

I finally took Linux as an OS seriously and installed several different distros on an old beat up compaq laptop. It's been a revelation.

I am now typing this from a Lenovo T61 Thinkpad I purchased on ebay for $45 + shipping with Linux Mint Mate installed by me.

I never was much of a Windows user and preferred OS X. But I've seen the light with Linux. No more over-bloated operating systems for me.

I tried Puppy and Cub, which I also like.

Any consensus on whether or not Windows 8.1 is transmitting as much data as Windows 10 back to Microsoft servers? I've begun going through each Windows 8.1 update that gets sent my way and I don't install the ones that are merely for sending data to MS, but not sure if this even helps that much.
