Spokesman: Obama praises Heat, Spurs

<snip>

"Like millions of Americans, President Obama stayed up late Thursday to watch the seventh game of the National Basketball Association finals.

The president had praise for both teams after the Miami Heat beat the San Antonio Spurs 95-88 to take the NBA championship series four games to three.

"He said ... that he was simply sad that it was over, that it was a great series," said Obama spokesman Jay Carney. "Two great teams, very dramatic outcome of so many of the games.

"So he certainly congratulates the Miami Heat, but both teams for playing such a remarkable finals."
