Barack Obama
Related: About this forumNice manufactured issue some are making about the name of the stadium
where Obama will accept a second term. Yes, he's a sell out, they say, because look at the stadium name (Bank of America) or he wants a big crowd because of his ego. Of course, Obama has nothing to do with the name of the stadium and, furthermore, most stadiums today have corporate names. Is it unfortunate, yes! but where else can Obama go to get a huge throng of people in one setting to listen to the acceptance speech? They seem to forget, too, that NC is a key state and one Obama won narrowly last time. Just think if he fills the 70,000 person stadium and has thousands more outside listening to him--that would certainly give him some strong momentum in NC.
Sometimes I think the Obama critics on DU go out of their way to assign some sinister motive to everything Obama does.

(8,492 posts)Someone here has an issue with the name of the friggin' stadium? Good grief. And I thought the freeper over at freeperville calling his daughter Sasha "Sharia" was bad. At least I can expect idiocy and petty comments from the right.

I have no interest in seeing anything by the ignorant, whining, profiteers who push their stupid bile onto the willing suckers.

Meanwhile, actual Historic legislation has occurred in the arena that you are snarkily alluding to.....But please don't mention that....cause being able to mention the two minutes of talk is worth more than everything else that has occurred in the entire wide world, past, present or ever in the future.

There are some people here that just go with the popular flow tho (hey, it rhymes), for the recs and the spotlight - they'll say one thing a week ago and if there is enough 'press' they'll flip to the opposite just to get there little spot in the sun and the Run with the Lemmings.

(22,541 posts)I don't know of a stadium anymore that does not have a corporate name on it. That's how cities make money to build new ones.
So it's obviously manufactured bullshit. And embarrassing for DU.
