(82,383 posts)People need to see how it is done and that it's not so simple. You see those threads about what the POTUS should have said - people who think they can just write the speech and that it doesn't have a lot of work go into it.

(16,646 posts)There was a West Wing episode about the general process. Obviously there was some humor injected into it, but I suspect it was not all that far from the truth. The epsiode starts out with Sam telling someone "You should have seen what was almost in it" or some such thing, and then they go back in time and illustrate the whole process.
