1. Because I trust Obama I trust him to do as he says....and trade is good, isolationism, bad.

Ever since Marco Polo began trade from the Far East.

The devil is in the details and not every industry is going to be happy, but folks should hold the outrage until the devil is known.

What would the impact of a more open market in Japan for American autos do for that industry, in example?

2. totally agree.

I just find that I trust Pres. Obama on this one. His arguments just make sense to me.
While everything in it might not be the ideal of all possible worlds, it does seem to me the best we can get right now, in THIS world at THIS time, after extensive multi-national negotiations. And the environmental and worker guarantees are better than NAFTA.
It really is better than the status quo.

The fierce arguments against TPP seem to me a classic example of "the perfect as the enemy of the good". And they ignore the real political (and economic) downside of the US pulling out of a multi-nation agreement after 5 years of negotiations.

Even when I've disagreed with the President on some issues (the permit for Shell Oil to drill in the Arctic, for instance), I remember one of the best things about our president: that he's the kind of guy who thinks before he talks, and thinks before he acts. Whatever his decisions on whatever issue, I know that he's always, always, thought the issue through. Thoroughly and knowledgeably. That's been all too rare a trait in the preceding administrations.

3. TPP is the "gold standard" of trade agreements.

It includes progressive American ideals and policies promoting our values, for labor, environment, many other issues.

It fixes some of the things President Obama promised regarding NAFTA.

Now- to be sure - no Democrat can go wrong opposing TPP. If one job is lost because of TPP or just perceived to be lost because of TPP, that Democrat better be strong with his/her constituency.

Fortunately, we seem to have enough Democrats who care about this nation, this world - the future - who will stand with President Obama when it counts.

Protectionism and isolationism - trade wars and confrontations - is not the best option for our future.

Engagement, commerce, association, friendship, partnership - trust and shared vision - that is America's best future!

4. HOPE!

I feel sure every intention on Obama's part is to benefit American workers and our economy. We know for a fact that it is not the case for anyone in the world of isolaton that is the Republican vision.

I want this to be true as true can be so that no lies can obfuscate its success. Maybe we can jetison people in the Carson/Trump/Fiorina bubble. Then the rest of the GOP may find it in their "hearts" to return helping the American worker and our economy.

5. Makes perfect sense

The ODS brigade merely uses this issue as a vehicle for their affliction. How can we not be involved in trade - we'd eventually lose all jobs.
