Man sets fire to smoke out opossums, burns down house instead

LANCASTER, Pa. -- A Pennsylvania man trying to scare away opossums by setting a fire has destroyed his home.

LNP reports the row house blaze on Wednesday in Lancaster began when a man used butane to light a pile of leaves in his backyard. The man apparently hoped the smoke would help rid him of the marsupials, which are known for playing dead.

A city fire marshal says the fire got out of control and spread to the home, which was built of wood.

They love to eat ticks; it's their favorite thing in the world and they eat a lot of them. If that guy had read the news he would have seen that we are going to have a bumper crop of ticks this year right along with all the diseases they cause. Heck, I'd be bussin' ticks instead of smoking them out.

They nom ticks and they especially enjoy the ticks that cause Lyme disease. Plus, there are really no downsides to possums. They just eat ticks and go about their business. If you squint your eyes they're actually kind of cute. Just try not to look at the tail (eew).
