Teen police volunteers(in LA) steal patrol cars and patrol Los Angels.

LOS ANGELES — Three teenagers in a program for those who may want to become officers stole three Los Angeles Police Department vehicles and went on patrol around the city before leading authorities on wild pursuits that ended with crashes, Chief Charlie Beck said Thursday.

The trio — two boys and a girl ages 15, 16 and 17 — "gamed the system" and used a vacationing sergeant's name to sign out stun guns and radios and drive the cars right out of a stationhouse parking lot, Beck said. Police are investigating whether the teens impersonated officers and pulled over drivers.

The three were arrested Wednesday after two pursuits ended with crashes in South Los Angeles. A third police car was later recovered around the corner from a police station.

Beck said he had ordered a thorough review of the department's cadet program and policies for managing inventory.

"We are going to take this apart top to bottom," Beck said at a news conference. "We're going to see what we can do better and we're going to do it."

My sis and I took our Mom's Chevelle out for a joy ride. After midnight and actually got away with it! Tho, I was pretty nervous the whole time.
It was a wore out Chevelle with primer for paint. We had a wild night country cruisin.

We were 17 years old cruising in my friends fathers dodge volare station wagon. We had the world by the tail case of pabst blue ribbon and weed. Long for the short several hours later his father and my father were showing up at the local police station because he my friend failed to make a sharp turn and we ended up in are home economics teachers front yard not by choice. I'm throwing beer cans empties and full cans across the road into the pasture to get rid of the evidence. strangely I do remember the cows were out under the moonlight. And are home economics teacher knew who we were screaming are names I'm calling the police. I left for the army like five weeks later what a night we still laugh about that when we see each other we were dumb kids.

I have a step sister named Melissa.
Dad adopted my step sibs, so me and the other M shared the same last name too!

We were down staying a week at Gramdma's in AR when I was about 13. (1983)

Dry county but we snuck out and met some boys and other girls too. Went to the next county and the boys got someone to buy us three cases beer. We r on some back road back in the dry county when the sheriff pulls up.

We had the beer stashed under the hood of the truck - these boys had done this before- but we got busted with it anyway.

At first it appeared that we were gonna get to pour the beer out and get sent home. Because we had literally just arrived and unpacked some. Not drunk yet.

The sheriff commensed to asking our names and he knew some of the local kids.
It came to me and my sis. I announced my name as Melissa ________
All my sis could do was give her name as
Melissa ________ (same last name)
Needless to say he didn't buy that shit!
Pissed off now, he wanted to know Grandma's phone number -which neither of us remembered. So we had to give our home tele # back in KC MO.
Oh boy did crap hit the fan when that call went thru from AR to MO.

We weren't lying, officer!

Oh man!
Dad wooped my ass and good! Grandma was very ashamed of me.
I did some pretty wild stuff before the legal age of 21.

Whew! I still think this story is a hoot!

No dream. It happened. Not all of us had mothers that paid attn.

I grew up fast. Didn't even have a drivers license at the time. Neither did big sis. But we were taught how to drive anyway. Dad might need a DD...
