Iowa man gets upset that Burger King won't honor his coupon

One Jeremiah Wenzel of Cedar Rapids visited a Burger King with his mother and another woman when he tried to use a coupon at the fast food joint. Things went downhill fast when they refused to take the coupon.

Incensed that a Burger King employee would not honor a coupon he offered, an Iowa man first threw a cell phone at the worker and then climbed over the counter and struck the victim in the head with the phone, drawing blood, according to police and a video of the incident.

As seen in the above video, which was shot by another customer, after Wenzel threw the phone--which landed behind the counter--a Burger King worker said that he was calling police. Wenzel, accompanied by his mother and another woman, replied that he would get a lawyer to “sue your f**king ass.”

“Well, you’re not getting your phone back. I’m calling the police,” the Burger King worker said.

At that point, Wenzel’s mother realized that her son threw her phone at the fast food worker. “You threw your phone at him?” she asked her son. “My phone! You dumbass, that’s my phone.” She added, “Thank you, Jeremiah.”

Was a good friend of mine
I never understood a single word he said
But I helped him a-drink his wine
And he always had some mighty fine wine

By the time one figures in all the money he'll have to shell out in fines, attorney costs, etc. Or jail time. Plus probably being persona non grata at any Burger King.

it seems things like this are happening frequently with people getting hurt and places of business damaged.

Just go to Not Always Right (https://notalwaysright.com/) - as in the customer is not always right - and read some of the stories.

Just read some of these:

rude and knowingly dishonest some people are. They never seem embarrassed by their actions.

Worked in a restaurant for over four years. Worked at Wally World for almost two. Had enough of Wally World to last ten lifetimes.

for a well known fast food chain. My dept received calls from all over the country, answered info questions, offered a sympathetic ear and comments for complaints, and promised local follow up contact within a specified time frame. We forwarded the call details to local supervisors.

Calls ranged from ridiculous to scary.

Caller: When I got home, there was no salt packet with my fries order. I want a refund."

Me: I am very sorry that this was overlooked. Please give me your contact information so we can resolve this oversight for you. (Silently I am thinking who doesn't have salt at home and why call about such trivia? Obviously just looking for a freebe.)

OR

Caller: I'm inside your (location) restaurant now. (I can hear the sounds in the background.) Your clerk just used a racial slur at my boyfriend. OMG! Boyfriend told him to take it back. Clerk just jumped the counter and hit my boyfriend. Call the police for us. (I can hear scuffling and screaming in the background. I am unable to call her local police from where I am across the country.)

Me to caller: Call 911 immediately and get back to us when you are safe. We will want details when you can do it. (I am yelling so she can hear me over the din at her end. Co-workers are staring at me and supervisor is rushing to my desk.)
