Romanoff-D was Speaker of the CO House of Representative who ran for the US Senate in 2010 and lost to Bennet-D in the Democratic Primary by a 8 percent margin and in 2014 ran for the US House in CO-6th CD and lost to Mike Coffman-R in the November General Election by a 8 percent margin.
Johnston-D was a State Senator who ran for Governor in 2018 and finished in 3rd Place in the Democratic Primary behind Jared Polis-D and Cary Kennedy-D. Polis-D and Kennedy-D were more well known than Johnston-D.
Romanoff-D and/or Johnston-D would defeat Gardner-R in the November 2020 General Election due to the 2020 Democratic Presidential Nominee coattails and Gardner-R strong conservative voting record.
