Hillary Folks: Your Compassion and Wisdom is Needed

I am making a request on behalf of all of us. On behalf of Hillary. On behalf of the 33,000 people who are killed every year by gun violence. Finally, the good people of the Democratic Party are trying to do something about it. Obama has. Hillary is doing it. It is going to be an uphill battle the same way civil rights, health rights and lgbt rights have been hard fought.

Please, if you can, support Hillary in her quest to change the gun violence landscape. She is right and leading the way.

There is a thread in GDP where unfortunately, people are so blinded by politics, they won't support this issue. If you can lend your compassion, your wisdom and voices, please visit this thread and support Hillary's cause:

Thank you so much. Hillary people are the best.

I love what you said. This should be a non-partisan issue. We can do this if we work together.

It's so very important that this is done. I don't want to see families devastated like they have been for so long, because we DON'T have sensible regulations and control.

I grew up with guns. I know my way around a weapon. But, I could never justify buying an assault weapon. What for? Assault weapons are made to kill PEOPLE, not to hunt game.

When I had small children, I did not have guns. I had no way to secure a weapon away from them, so, whether or not I like target shooting, and at times to hunt, had not a damn thing to do with ensuring the safety of my children. That was and is by far more important.

I don't suspect a lot of people go there with an open mind, and certainly not about guns. And based on what I read from the other thread, most of them are just trying to highlight a "flip flop" from 2008, while failing to recognize that gun violence is worse than ever 8 years later, and that people can change their minds on an issue over time.

I think differently on a lot of issues now compared to how I did when I was younger. And that's true for everyone. But with Clinton, because of the derangement syndrome, every time she changes her mind, it must be some kind of "calculation" instead of a good-faith adjustment. They want to believe the worst of her.

I am hoping, somehow, someway, a part of them will hear and be inspired to support moving gun legislation into the 21st century. Now is our moment to do that because Hillary and Obama are giving it momentum. It is becoming part of the national conversation in a way like never before. I am hoping some hearts can soften and progressives can unite behind this issue.

Your post was beautiful. As Hillary has said, we need more love and compassion. The Hillary Group has that for which I am so very grateful. We can make a difference. Hillary will make a difference.

Your points are fantastic. Thank you!

I am so glad you posted because despite the resistance, I know many of the things you and we are saying are having an effect on the "opposition". So very sad to see that it would be fellow progressives who would defend NRA and Right Wing talking points. They are desperate to deny the gun violence crisis impacting millions of our most at risk because Bernie is on the wrong side of the issue. He is, and has proven to be, legislatively influenced by his NRA gun lobby contributors. I am praying that once he concedes, clearer heads will prevail and they will support not only Hillary but the many the civil rights she wants to protect and expand.

You and the whole Hillary crew are phenomenal.

They just don't want to GET it do they?

The gunman from the massacre in Ohio is still at large. There was a shooting in Georgia, and then, a shooting at a prom in Wisconsin.

Those are just the most recent examples of WHY we need reasonable gun control.
