Republican Colin Powell Deals Death Blow to Hillary Clinton Email Scandal
On ABC’s This Week, former Sec. of State Colin Powell admitted that he used a private email account for public business. Powell’s explanation of why he used a private email account amounted to a death blow for Republicans who are trying to build a scandal out of Hillary Clinton’s emails....
Powell’s description of his own emails as pretty benign matches up with Rep. Adam Schiff’s description of the Hillary Clinton emails that the Benghazi committee has read. According to Sen. Chuck Schumer, Clinton’s private email system was based on the system that Powell used. The technology available in most federal agencies is woefully outdated. It isn’t surprising that appointees would use technology that is available in the private sector because it is better. Powell’s emails from his personal account went into the State Department system because they were addressed to employees in State. The same is the case with the Clinton emails. Powell’s discussion of his own experience with his personal email account adds credibility to the claim that there is nothing to see here. If Hillary Clinton broke the law, as some Republicans are claiming, then Colin Powell also broke the law. The more that is revealed about the use of private email, the more it looks like Republicans are trying to make something out of nothing. It has been a bad day for the Republican Clinton email scandal, and it is only going to get worse for the Republican Party as they continue to go down what looks like a dead end. http://www.politicususa.com/2015/03/08/republican-colin-powell-deals-death-blow-hillary-clinton-email-scandal.html via Politics USA

1. Good!
It's good to see any derailment/side-issue taken away from the GOP...

16. It won't
The backwash already regards Powell as a traitor for endorsing Obama.

17. No one with knowledge of the law ever claimed he broke the law with his emails. And the law is exactly the same
whether it is applied to Hillary or Colin or anyone else. The law wasn't changed till after both of them had left office.

she broke no law. If she had, they would have charged her long ago.

12. what's incredible to me is that people actually buy into this
benghazi et al is so fucking stupid, and yet it comes up in the news so often that people are convinced that hil is a candidate with 'issues'
it's almost turning me into a supporter. unfortunately I lean a bit too far left. however, should she win the primary she will have my full contribution. republicans are aggressive assholes. I don't think that the proper response is aggression in return, but I wouldn't mind seeing a few more frankens take up the cause. |

She was nattering about it again because it's in the news again because the GOP/NYT is still beating this dead horse, and averred that Hillary will just have to comment about it/answer all the questions about it "Because >sigh< it's just not going away." I think it was yesterday.
That woman has turned into a hack. |

14. "Death Blow"! Wow! Yeah, republicons aren't the only ones who are trying to make something
out of nothing, DM M.
I remember reading early on about this.. that Powell had used his private e-mail server, too. This was before it became the law.. just like with Hillary. But, when has that ever stopped Cons and whomever else is whining about this? ![]() ![]() |

If he could endorse Obama in 2008, he can stand up for Hillary. Its not like Republicans like him anymore anyway. Nor did they ever, except as a showpiece.

But it would be a mistake for any Democrat to use "Powell did it, too" as a defense for anything.

31. Hey, I would imagine a few of us have done that by accident.
I certainly goofed once in the Bernie Sanders Group, when I replied to a post - to reply specifically to THAT post. I just didn't have the presence of mind to check up at the top of the screen to see which forum the thread was in. D'OH! It's easy enough to do if one is momentarily not paying attention. Taught me to make sure to check which forum. I apologized, of course. It's a habit that just sorta has to be formed. I'm working on it myself, trying to be more contientious about that.
Btw - thank you for being so courteous! ![]() |

29. Not really. It's the repubs who are mostly pushing this shite. Since Powell did it before it
became law and Hillary did too.. they have nothing.
And, yes, you are in Hillary's Group.. thank you for being congenial. |
