NYT: Bernie Sanders Refuses to Concede Nomination to Hillary Clinton (HRC GP)

Some excerpts:

On Sunday, he gathered with about 20 key supporters and advisers at his home in Burlington, Vt., to discuss how to proceed.

“We are going to take our campaign to the convention with the full understanding that we are very good at arithmetic and that we know, you know, who has the received the most votes up to now,” Mr. Sanders said after the meeting, standing on his front lawn with his wife, Jane. Among the dozen or so people who attended the gathering were Benjamin T. Jealous, a former president of the N.A.A.C.P.; Congressman Raúl M. Grijalva of Arizona; Nina Turner, a former Ohio state senator; and Bill McKibben, the environmentalist and author.

Notably, Mr. Sanders also said he would continue his efforts aimed at “transforming the Democratic Party,” a sign that his main goal may no longer be to become the nominee.

SNIP:

When asked by Chuck Todd on Sunday’s “Meet the Press” on NBC whether he was an “active candidate,” he responded that he wanted to see Mr. Trump defeated.

over his campaign finance issues....sanders is an ego-maniac.....been saying that for months here. He is holding out for as much as hillary, the DNC will give him and is in direct violation of the terms he agreed to with the DNC when they allowed him to run as a democrat in our primaries...sander's words mean little any more

After a year of relentless campaigning and coming up short maybe he needs to rest a few days. He does not sem to be thinking clearly. Why, for example wait until after DC to get out ? Surely he must see he is going to suffer another crushing defear there. What does he have to gain ?
He is like a dazed boxer who refuses to give up after being knocked out and insist they are fine.

neat and clean for him to let the DC voters vote. Then he can say he kept his pledge to include everyone. I don't think he's thinking that they will vote for him in droves.

If he doesn't concede this week, however, then I'm concerned about what this says about him and whether he is being disruptive.

From his past statements, we already know he's never had any affection for our party. I hope they don't let him near it. Hasn't he already filed to run for Senate again as and Independent? I would make NO sense for him to wield power in an organization to which he doesn't even belong!

I don't think he is sincere about anything he says. I felt that way when exposed to him by Ed Schultz nearly every single show.

He and Jane seem like con artists to me. There will be no "movement ". There will be no "revolution".

The only thing Sanders is sincere about is feeding his immense ego.

on their shoulders against the DNC for perceived slights, and it's driven their campaign off the rails. (Driven it straight into Crazytown, IMO.)

All of the people listed in that article are nothing but distorted caricatures of what a real progressive looks like. Where's Al Gore to say to Sanders what he said to Howard Dean, "This isn't about YOU."

He lost, everyone but his most ardent supporters are going to hold out and, pathetically, insist that the Democratic party is the same as the GOP and that electing Trump will hasten the winds of "Democratic Socialism".

As the world turns, it is turning without Bernie.

I am not the least bit interested in an outsider "transforming" my party. So far he has functioned almost exclusively as a one man wrecking crew. If he really has a passion for his ideas - let him start his own damn party.
