Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumI'm here for the first time....
....after a few rather bruising encounters with Bernie supporters on the General Discussion: Primaries board. Gosh, those guys are relentless and of course they are absolutely sure that their views are absolutely the only ones which are correct and their candidate is perfect. (Hell, no one is perfect.) I was also shocked by the many who say they will refuse to vote for the nominee of the Democratic Party unless Sanders wins the nomination.
Since my views are obviously not welcome on the board board that the Sanders supporters have virtually taken over, I was promted a piece for my blog which I entitled: "The Far Left and the Far Right Opposing Mirror Images". I am not going to bore you with it here, but if have time you might want to check it out at http://www.cajunscomments.com/the-far-left-and-the-far-right-opposing-mirror-images/ If you happen to make it over there, I would love to hear what you think.

(296,861 posts)They care nothing about the Planet.. it's all about them and stamping their feet.
Thankfully there are enough people who do care about our Planet and will get out and vote for Hillary if she is our Democratic Nominee.
From your blog.. good observations, Cajun.. Mahalo.
" Both groups almost always refuse to compromise even when it is to their clear advantage to do so. They wont compromise even when failing to so actually hurts their cause. Like most true believers, they are also usually convinced that they are absolutely right and those that dont share their views are absolutely wrong."

(5,648 posts)....but what does "K&R" mean? From context, I have already gather it is something good, but even the Urban Dictionary is failing me on that one.

(28,270 posts)If you reply to a post it rises up the list of subjects to make it more visible...also called a kick.
Rec is the recommend button on the lower left of the original post. If a post gets lots of them it will appear on the home page of DU.
Unfortunately since Bernie followers have pretty much taken over this board it's hard for any pro Hillary post to make the front page

(9,494 posts)The good news is that Democrats usually run a moderate candidate (Clinton, Obama) and they will again when Hillary wins the nomination. Even if the moon turned blue and Hillary drop out, the party would run Joe Biden. Sanders could not win the general and he would certainly drag down every other Democrat running for office, with him. It would be a complete disaster.
The Republicans have been running moderates for president as well. McCain and Romney and even Jeb Bush are as about as moderate as the republican party gets theses days. The problem is congress and the gerrymandered nightmare it has become since 2010. We don't even have a hope of changing that until 2020.
So, it's a nice dream but....elections have consequences that can't just be willed away.

(5,648 posts)... I also recently posted an good column on my blog by Hedrick Smith in which he offers the opinion that the gerrymandering the GOP indulged in following their 2010 effort to take over the state legislators will come back to haunt them. You may have seen the column in your local paper or their website.
I also recently wrote a piece for my blog called "No One Wants to Lead the Rowdy Bunch". In it I explore the revolt in the Republican Party and why far right core of the GOP is in revolt and may no longer follow the dictates to the Republican establishment to nominate "electable" candidates for the Presidency. It also explores the revolt of the so called "Freedom Caucus" (formally known as the Tea Party kooks) and its effect on their party and our democracy.

(20 posts)I second your view that alot of Bernie supporters are rude to Hillary suppoters and anyone who doesn't support their candidate. Not very democratic!

(30,717 posts)I am white, but I go there to read and to try to be supportive of them. They have been run off this place in large numbers.
I like the Barack Obama group, too. It is a shame that a Democratic board has to have a safe haven in which to praise their President, but that is what is happening here.
I guess we will see what happens after the primaries.
Welcome!

(12,448 posts)I finally made up my mind about Hillary after the debate. It was very clear to me she's he best choice. I do like Bernie, but I don't think he can win the general election. It's probable he won't win the primaries either, in which case there will be a meltdown here on DU.
I still can't believe the number of people who say they won't vote for the Democratic nominee if it isn't Bernie. It's not just anti-Hillary anymore (although that certainly still exists); it's anti anyone who isn't Bernie.
