Hillary Clinton Room Post-Hillary Clinton on the role of risk in peacemaking

Hillary Clinton on Monday argued that peacemaking requires the willingness to take risks.
I remember very well when the request came back in 1993 that my husband approve a visa for Gerry Adams, who is with us today, Clinton said during the latest speech in a proto-campaign for president that's expected to kick off next month.
She was referring to the president of Sinn Fein who, together with other Irish and Irish-American leaders, lunched beneath the chandeliers of Essex House on Central Park South on the eve of St. Patricks Day.
It was a very difficult decision, Clinton said. It seems like an obvious one in retrospect. But at the time, much of our own government, certainly other governments, were against such a gesture. And I think it is true that absent that first step, that first risk, we might not have had the momentum to move forward to get to the Good Friday accords and all that has followed.
