I can sense the mother and grandmother in her speaking out in horror at what has happened to the children of Flint. And the anger and passion in her words is undeniable.

I think she now needs to take the step that Bernie did, and call for the removal of Rick Snyder.

first hand the effects of lead poisoning on children, and knows what harm has been done to them. You see the same horror in Dr. Mona when she speaks of what she found in her patients. Back in 2007 Hillary introduced a bill to ban lead in children's toys, she did her homework then, and so she knows what a horrible thing has happened in Flint.

I'm sorry, but calling Bernie's call for Snyder to resign is not a "step" by any stretch of the imagination. It's rather pointless and useless actually, as is touting Single Payer as a way to deal with the immediate issues of treating this population of people.

What she did was the correct step, she applied public pressure to Snyder to do what any sane person would have done MONTHS ago, to ask for federal aid, to declare this an Emergency and get the people who know what they're doing in dealing with public health disasters to come and fix his mess.

This is not the time to be issuing weak calls for his resignation, he needs to be held accountable as Michael Moore is doing, the people need water and Snyder is failing miserably to get it to them, volunteers from random people outside of flint with the common sense and intelligence and humanity to gather up water and drive it over to them are doing this, Cher just stepped up and used her celebrity to get a water company on board. Rachael Maddow has sent her staff down there to document what's going on and draw attention the abject failure of the penny pinching, child poisoning Republicans.

Here is what Hillary did on the issue:
Called the Senator and the Representative of the area to see what they're doing and how they're getting the funding to ensure that children are getting tested so that treatment for those affected can begin immediately. She's aware of the issue, what's at stake, what needs to be done, what needs to be set up if the damage has already been done, because she is familiar with the issue already. There is the immediate issues and long term things that must be done, she's already on that, while Snyder STILL has no clue. She sent her top aides down there to meet with the mayor and get the best info about what's going on in Flint itself. She shamed Snyder into doing what he should have already done, and he's whining about it now.

So, the 'step' Bernie took? Why does she need to bother with such a pointless thing?

Bernie needs to step up here, because what Hillary did already is what a president does, Bernie still hasn't done anything, and doesn't seem to understand that he probably should have done a bit of homework. Shaking one's head and saying this is bad, is nice and all, but in what way is it accomplishing anything?

Bernie needs to figure out how to take the steps she and others already have and do some shouting about the stuff he knows about, the stupidity of the economic calculations, the steps that need to be taken NOW not in some nebulous and theoretical future under a single payer system, and see what's to be done about the issues these people are facing NOW. Yes, there is economic disparity and single would be awesome and all, but those discussions don't do much to get the lead out of their faucets and showers, the itchiness of their skin, the lead in their body systems and their brains and the worry about how they and their families will stay hydrated on a daily basis and how to pay the exorbitant water bills for the poison that has been causing their problems.

I think you and Bernie need to understand the level that a president needs to operate at, all this passionate shouting about philosophical things doesn't do much in an emergency. You need gather your info, do you research, send your people out, figure out what can be done, what must be done, how soon you can manage it, and how to best go about doing it. I think she's far ahead of Bernie here.
