Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumDaily Kos:I will not condone the conspiracy theories and the ugliness. I am supporting Clinton.
After determining that both candidates have their strengths and their weaknesses, and realizing I was still unable to make a decision, I decided to look toward web sites like DKos and others, where supposed healthy debate among progressives/Democrats occurs, to get some more perspective. I read diaries for and against both candidates. Diaries that talked positively about Hillary Clinton also spoke highly of Sanders, but the authors reasoned through their support for Clinton and that was that. The running commentary on her campaign of course talked her up and pointed out her good qualities. What they did not do is talk about Sanders and his supporters like they are evil and part of a smear campaign or a conspiracy to take down Clinton because of what she stands for.
Articles for Sanders ranged from intelligent discussions on the topics to rants on how the Washington establishment is out to get him or how Clinton is this corporate peon who is completely corrupt and evil or how, get this, endorsements for Clinton dont mean anything because they are all part of this conspiracy against Sanders and prove how corrupt Clinton and her ilk are where as endorsements for Sanders are full of meaning and innocent of any special interest and prove that this country is ready for his brand of politics/revolution. But really, it is not the diaries from Sanders supporters that gave me the willies, it was the comments that I read from Sanders supporters, especially for diaries that are pro-Clinton OR even just skeptical of Sanders.
I was blown away by the complete inability for Sanders supporters to respect that people may actually support Hillary Clinton for valid reasons. No, instead the comments run from this author must be ignorant of the truth (i.e., not intelligent enough to figure it out) to this author must be part of an organized smear campaign. They question whether the author is even who they say they are. Clinton supporters are born liars, I guess. They cry foul every time someone points out Sanders or his campaigns weaknesses. They declare that people are using scare tactics when they point out how he still has to work with what will most likely be a Republican Congress and so far there is no hint of how his ideas are going to even leave the starting line, let alone get passed into law. They just refuse to believe that there are any honest, concerned citizens out there who think Clinton is the better candidate for whatever reasons they have.

This is more what I see on DU from some Sanders supporters. There are many here (I would like to hope that they are in the majority) who do not act in such a way and with whom good discussions may be had, albeit from different perspectives.
Until late 2015, I had a total of four people on my "Ignore" list. Now I have so many, I miss seeing comments from them in response to anything I post and I am quite thankful for that. But I wish that I could never see anything they post.
Through 2015, I had never trashed any DU threads. But since January 2016, I trash several on a daily basis.
The echo chamber can enjoy itself. But many of us have simply stopped listening.
And Berniestas use the tools of an actual conspiracy to attack her, trotting out stuff from Lewinski, the Arkansas Project and Darrel Issa's latest Benghazi bullshit.

(28,270 posts)Using straight up freakrepublic/teabagger hate to attack Hillary by "democratic liberals" is the worst thing I have ever seen on this site, and I wonder if DU can survive this teabagger assault after the primary is settled by Super Tuesday?
I got to say, I can't see it. The vile things that are allowed to exist on the site and the front page are beyond decency everyday anymore.
The jury system be dammed, its packed with a certain candidates supporters who will not ever be fair to Hillary. Ever.
The owners of this site should step in and do the right thing when their system fails....but they don't as far as I can tell.

(33,512 posts)I will probably end up voting for anyone who is not Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, etc.
Still...
The political rhetoric however is disgusting on both sides of the aisle. In particular, there are people who are making Ms. Clinton sound worse than George Wallace or Strom Thurmond, for some historical figures, worse than George W. Bush.
Speaking of George W. Bush, easily the worst President of the last 150 years, much of this rhetoric about Ms. Clinton reminds me of the kind of crap one heard from very, very, very, very stupid Ralph Nader supporters about a fellow named Al Gore.
One result of the very, very, very stupid trashing of Al Gore was the total destruction of two very large buildings in New York City, the loss of trillions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of human lives in a Quixotic quest for a childish President and his evil surrogate father to work out some Oedipal issues in a far off country, and the cementing of a dictatorship of the 1%.
I am as disgusted as I possibly can be by this Presidential campaign, particularly because the issues before the world are so dire. The country is screwed, and if we want to know why, we only need look in a mirror.

(33,512 posts)It was a real victory for so called "progressives" the installation of Alito and Roberts on the Court, two very, very, very wonderful voters on the "Citizens United Decision."
The more I acquaint myself on the internet with self described "progressives" the more I am convinced that many of them are dogmatic troglodytes. Like their counterparts on the extreme right, the extreme left's "victories" all prove to be Pyrrhic.
Plus ca change...

(12,165 posts)Now the list fills the screen and is growing. And DU is starting to become better for me because of it.
I don't ignore because someone supports Sanders. I ignore when I see baseless attacks on Hillary's character. Well, and often when I see the bug. I don't care enough to figure out why the crawling bug is there -- it's more of a tip off that I'm encountering a closed mind and life is too short to debate someone who is just here to stir the pot.
The time I like the bug is when I see it and then, wham!, out comes the flyswatter.

(15,366 posts)lot of reasonable people here on DU who support other candidates. We can certainly agree to disagree about our first choice of candidate during the primaries. In the end, so much more unites us than divides us. The GOP candidates are simply insane.
But when someone uses any opportunity whatsoever just to make a gratuitously nasty remark or to rant about or slander Hillary, that's the end for me.
I haven't paid that much attention to the blasted fly. But as you say, it's a good clue!

(6,699 posts)Stop whining. The democratic candidates all have their pros and cons. NONE of them are going to be able to produce what they promise any way. They all have to "pander". It's called politicking.
The congress needs to be shuffled. Very probably we'll be looking at a slight majority democratic control in the Senate, and too many repuKKKes to get anything constructive out of the House. Maybe in the midterms we can focus energy on flipping the House. But the President will have a similar task that President Obama has been dealing with.
The reich wingers HATE Hillary with a passion. They're all jealous that Bill was able to get a blow job from a young woman and his wife stuck by him. That explodes their "forgiving, kkkristian hearts". Fook'em all!
Bernie would be the new "anti-christ" because he's a self proclaimed "socialist-democrat", which must be some sort of Marxist baby-killer.
Vote and work for Hillary if you want....or Bernie, or O'Malley. Just vote! ...and get as many family, friends, neighbor's and strangers to get out and vote too! That's what will make a difference, or not.
Nobody is going to make a big difference if WE don't get out there in massive numbers and shake the legislative branch up in any case. I'm not terribly hopeful of that happening. I think we are a lazy, complacent, uninformed and selfish society that will most probably get what we deserve....more of the same.

And anyone who doesn't vote in the general election should have a bumper sticker on their car saying, "Supporter Of Republican Party And The Continuing Slide Into Total Disaster."
Not voting in the general election should be unthinkable to us all!!!

(6,699 posts)Read the last paragraph in the article, and a few other comments in the article that sound an awful lot like "poor, persecuted me". Sorry my friend, but I categorize that as "whining". You may not, but once again focus is placed on a portion of my post and we have a disagreement. Simple enough.
In a sense I guess I am saying it's getting repetitive and tiresome to hear one supporter complaining about supporters for someone else. Again, simple as that.
Nuff said. You have your perspective, and I have mine. Not telling anyone to stfu. If I was, I know how to type stfu.

(15,696 posts)I don't believe Bernie can deliver any down ticket wins outside of small white cheddar states.
I'm glad Bernie finally decided to join the party. I'm glad he mostly votes with Dems in the senate. Up until a few days ago, I thought he might make a damned good Attorney General; then, he decided to attack approximately 61% of the Registered Dem voting base with his "establishment" tantrum. Not cool, Bern.

It felt like there was a turning point when the attacks on Planned Parenthood started. That was beyond the pale, and a wake up call for me and many others. This election is not a joke. The advances we have made over the past eight years are real, and provide platforms on which to expand healthcare and civil rights.
My only concern at this point is Sanders will mount some Nader-esque spoiler campaign. If that does happen, it means we need to work all the harder to support Hillary and keep our country moving forward.
