I honestly didn't think it would come to this. As a lifelong individual who believes in socialism I'm completely appealed at the behavior being displayed by the Sanders campaign and his followers. I'm very stricken to see the talking points and insults being swung from these so called progressives. The same inept and unfeasible arguments we have previously seen coming from right wing extremists. These people are afflicted by the same kind of fervent idealism that causes them to abandon reason. To them it is no longer about the merits of ideas but rather an attempt to completely degrade any liberal opposition with mud slinging and speculation. We are seeing an appropriation of the concept of 'moral authority' or 'fundamental truths' which conservatives use to guide their beliefs without question, all rendered by some higher authority that they perceive to be pure and perfect.
We must remain strong in realizing that the Democratic party consists of all kinds of individuals who consistently share the same values. We strive for equality and social and economic progress. We have also accomplished so much over the last few years considering how divisive the right wing opposition is. Even though I am disappointed to see a fragment of the progressive movement descend into irrationality I am still hopeful that the Democratic party will stick together in order to prevent complete and utter regression if a republican is elected. There is just too much on the line to risk it all on some pipe dream.

(4,309 posts)I am disappointed as well and I can't take all this vitriol.
I hope that after the nomination we will all come together as Democrats, progressives and forward-thinking people and support the nominee.
We have had 8 years of positive progress despite NO cooperation from Republicans in Congress. I don't want to see us go back.
