After Getting Blown Out in South Carolina, Bernie Again Impugns Hillary’s Integrity (Hillary Group)

Source: Blue Nation Review by Peter Daou

The Minnesota speech started out positive, but then...

*****
Alas, he couldn’t maintain the uplifting tone and by the second half of the speech, Bernie resorted to his “release the transcripts” attack against Hillary. In essence, he’s accusing Hillary of corruption — without an iota of evidence.

As we wrote recently, Hillary confronted Bernie on his continued insinuation that she is somehow tainted by financial industry contributions:

I would just say, I debated then Senator Obama numerous times on stages like this, and he was the recipient of the largest number of Wall Street donations of anybody running on the Democratic side ever. Now, when it mattered, he stood up and took on Wall Street. He pushed through, and he passed the Dodd-Frank regulation, the toughest regulations since the 1930’s. So, let’s not in anyway imply here that either President Obama or myself, would in anyway not take on any vested interested, whether it’s Wall Street, or drug companies, or insurance companies, or frankly, the gun lobby to stand up to do what’s best for the American people.

Hillary is absolutely right. Does Bernie think President Obama is compromised by Wall Street contributions? If so, he should have the courage to say it. If not, he shouldn’t imply that a female candidate would be influenced by donations or speaking fees. There’s a word for that.

The endless drumbeat that Hillary is dishonest is now driven directly from the top of Bernie’s campaign. It is an “artful smear” where any mention of the “establishment” or Wall Street is a Pavlovian trigger designed to impugn Hillary’s character. The Wall Street Dog Whistle.

Excellent response, Hillary.

9. He is wanting free training for his next position as a speaker, if he can earn from the

subjects Hillary has spoke about then he can get as much money for one speech as he makes in Congress. Hillary spoke while she was at Wellesley, she was good then, she is better now.

He hasn't offered to release his conversation transcripts with lobbyists especially Lockheed Martin and NRA. I would like to see if they influenced his voting. Also he has been fund raising with firms like Goldman Sachs, where are those transcripts. Was there anything said which influenced his voting. He has admitted LULAC influenced his voting on the immigration bill, what else is there we do not know.

to attack another politicians character ("Corrupt!" often backfires!

13. Yes he was for Civil Unions in Vermont, he changed his position. He talks about

breaking up the big banks, the Dodd Frank on the books already does this. He rants about Goldman Sachs donating funds for elections and then he goes to fund raisers with Goldman Sachs. He rants about the criminalizing and the number of people sent to prison but he voted for the Crime bill. What is the real story then and the real story now, he was for it before he is against it, he was against it before he was for an issue.

So what does that mean? Is he chastising Nevadans and South Carolinians for being...well, not as smart as Minnesotans?

21. Bernie Sanders and supporters

have adopted the right wing smear tactics that we have seen since Bill Clinton took office. Watergate, TravelGate, Vince Foster, Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi, and the email server. They use these tactics of "not trustworthy" because they know that it has been an incessant dog whistle to the right wing. I thought Sander's was above this, but he's just another curmudgeon that can't stand that a woman is going to be President of this country. Many people can't handle that idea, just like they couldn't handle the fact that we, as Democrats nominated a black man and he became the first African American President. I don't know what is going to happen to this board once Hillary takes the nomination, probably a mass exodus back to Free Republic where they have all come from.
