....Convention and overturning Trump. The panel is exhausted because it's like 1:00 am where they are, and a little goofy, but this old guy answered question after question and volunteered information. And smiled and smiled.
I found this absolutely remarkable, and can't really do it justice. Ginsberg is a Republican attorney in Bush v Gore. There will be a transcript on the MSNBC website.
The question is: is anybody besides me watching this ?!

(31,222 posts)I'll never fall asleep tonight. I'm just too ginned up, so I'm watching the a.m. replays.

(90,562 posts)So I'm okay for awhile yet. Sheesh what a night -- complete meltdown by some of DUs denizens, eh?
But that thing with Ginsberg -- notice that little smile. He chose to talk to liberals on MSNBC, he chose to tell everyone what the big plan is to stop Trump. Amazing.

(26,001 posts)Presumably, that's safe for me to ask in here, right?
Hekate
(90,562 posts)It sounds very complicated, like all the real work has to be accomplished before the convention, practically district by district. He said it cannot be top-down.
The GOP is coming to pieces before our eyes.

Rubio makes me damn nervous, because there's no telling what sort of shit his handlers will get the world into.

(16,104 posts)At a brokered convention, if on the first ballot, a single candidate doesn't win the majority (50% plus1) the convention votes until they have a winner. After the first ballot, all delegate votes are 'freed.'
One very legitimate scenario, Cruz and Rubio - who at this point have more votes than Trump - pledge a ticket, and the convention then reflects the will of the majority primary vote.
On the other hand, the convention can nominate anyone other than Trump, and for the good of the Republican Party, select another candidate altogether.

(47,437 posts)but later, Chris Matthews asked why Ginsberg was telling it to us. So I suppose Matthews will devote a lot of his program this evening to this clip. That is, if he, and the rest of them got enough slip.

We would see them nominate Rubio.

(16,104 posts)and we have the first woman president!
Bill's plan is working!
I like this scenario!
I remember when DU found out Bill had "talked" with Drumpf about running. While others were frothing at the mouth, I was laughing because I could just hear that trademark rasp of the Big Dog's as he chuckled and said "Follow your dream, Donald, follow your dream," knowing it would mean GOP disaster.

They will take it away from him and give it to Rubio. I am 100% certain of this.

Good morning!

(17,865 posts)he had some ideas that were basically suggestive of disenfranchising the majority voters and stealing the election from Trump if he wins. Makes it pretty clear that if they can do it to a Republican (and I use the term loosely with Trump), they sure as hell would do it to a Democrat.

(10,823 posts)I thought that conversation was fascinating, a peek into the inner workings of the Republican leadership nest. Ginsberg infamous for his work in the Gore/Bush fiasco gave us tidbits of what's grinding behind the curtain. There was presumably a big meeting this morning yo map out the strategy to deny Trump the nomination, all the big guns.
The GOP knows it's facing a Fracture for the Ages. It's Anyone But Trump time in DC. The Donald even took on Paul Ryan, a shot across the bow.
This is all out war.

(1,512 posts)... whether they'd try to install someone who hasn't run this year (like Romney). Mitt's sure keeping himself busy commenting on all of this.
do that. He's already lost (badly) to Obama, has so many easily exploited weaknesses, and Obama can give Clinton some pointers on taking Governor Goodhair down.

(90,562 posts)Claiming it's all a democratic process, because the voters choose the delegates and the delegates choose the nominee, and the delegates are not obligated to vote for Trump if they are persuaded not to.
I wonder how the voters feel about that?
Son of a gun, they are really going to do this.
Run third party, Donald!
