Offering my sympathies

I am a loyal Bernie supporter but I would like to apologize to all of Hillary's supporters for the disgusting comments and attitudes of my fellow Bernie supporters here on DU.

I have become appalled by the outrageous and sickening hatred and invective directed at HRC from the Bernie supporters here on DU - and it is rampant. There is nothing about Bernie, his campaign or his platform that should be associated with the crap posted by his supporters here on DU. One of them even replied to me yesterday that voting for HRC was no different than being raped. I am ashamed to be associated with people who would say something so vile. We all want a friendly debate about the issues; but comments like that are completely out of line.

Hopefully you can find some comfort in that there are some sensible Bernie supporters on DU. We may prefer different candidates but some of us can discuss the differences in a civil and respectful manner. There is too much at stake for such reprehensible divisiveness. I will gladly vote for HRC in the GE if she is the nominee instead of Bernie. There is no hesitation with my vote at all. Granted, I would prefer Bernie to be the nominee; but HRC is a perfectly acceptable alternative.

I know there are good Bernie supporters, too, who will support HRC if she is the nominee just as we would support Bernie. The stakes are too high to play the game that "This Democrat isn't pure enough" to vote for because then we will get a horrible Republican. I agree basically the campaign between Hillary & Bernie is on a high plane and has not been nowhere near as nasty as on the GOP side. Both candidates have areas of disagreement but on the whole they are quite respectful towards each other.

Thank you again for your kind words.

We fully understand that many of Bernie's most rabid fans are not Democrats and we take comfort in the fact that they will be gone after the primaries. I think we all also understand that we should not judge all of Bernie's supporters based on the actions of the worst actors. Thanks for making that abundantly clear.

Thanks for your kind words.

these "supporters" are doing damage to your candidate in the long run and working against the coalition building that would be necessary if he should win, and undermining the process of bringing people together to work for common goals regardless of who wins.

Clearly some "Bernie supporters" are nothing of the kind. Their transparent goal is to undermine both Democratic candidates so that Trump or Cruz can win the general election.

We have two solid and SANE candidates and we should be supporting our choice, not knocking down another's. Some of the comments really are disgraceful.

Hopeful that there are other Bernie supporters who aren't so rabid and insulting. I was beginning to wonder, so much so that I left the primaries forum this week, because it was so discouraging to read the Hillary hate posts.

Regardless of who wins the nomination, we must unite in the general election. I'll certainly vote for Bernie if he's our candidate. I just wonder if there are any more than a few in the GD-P forum who will support Hillary.

Thanks for posting!

I'll watch a debate and think both candidates did well, come to DU and it's a junk drawer full of Hillary hate. Still trying to get the terrible comment out of my head that I saw today suggesting Hillary should go and copulate with a brick. Oh sure, that's just simply disagreement about policy. All the hysterical denials of the daily Hillary hate make me feel like I'm being gaslighted: I'm Ingrid Bergman wondering if I'm imagining things, but then I come to the Hillary group full of Joseph Cottens who see that THE GAS LIGHT HAS INDEED DIMMED and I'm perfectly sane. Thank you, LonePirate for being the Joseph Cotten today. (Saw the movie last week and it's fresh in my mind.)

There's more than a few of you reasonable types on here... sometimes it's hard to see through the noise, but I for one do.

There's been more than a few ugly ones from my side as well, and prior to making the decision to be more positive and decent in January, i'd been one of the dung flingers myself on more than a few occasions.

Here's to those of us that have decided to keep it positive!

We have 2 very good candidates and much to be proud of. Much more so than that joke of a clown car the Republicans are running for sure!

Whichever candidate finds him or herself winning the nomination will get my full support. I'll donate what I can, earnestly man the phone banks, and wear the apparel. I like Hillary, but that doesn't mean I have to hate Bernie's guts. I like him as well.

Thanx for the moment of civility amid what too many see as full out war where the opposition must be crushed forever.

When Hillary supporters complain about Bernie supporters, our comments seem to fall on deaf ears. Perhaps it would help if the site owners heard your point of view, which might carry more weight than ours.

In any case, thank you for the OP.

For me, it has somewhat diminished Bernie's message. No matter who is the Democratic nominee we cannot allow a Republican to win the presidency. I get the feeling there are a number of Bernie supporters who would like to see Trump defeat Hillary, if she is the nominee, just so they can say, see we told you Hillary was unelectable.

I don't appreciate it from either side, but some alleged, pretended, or misguided Bernie supporters seem to be reading right out of a Rove playbook and running every misogynist, extreme, over-the-top play they can against Hillary.

Anyone who has done the jobs Hillary has done in government for the past thirty years is going to accumulate skeletons, mistakes, that-was-then moments, enemies, and ambiguous or even outright awful moments. They're going to have regrets.

While I disagree with many of the particular stances, policies, and compromises Hillary has chosen, I also see the many positive accomplishments, competences, and strengths she brings to public service.

I prefer Bernie, but I'd rather end up with Hillary than anyone the GOP is fielding.

wearily,
Bright

I am undecided, mostly because by the time the primary comes to New Mexico it will be decided.

I state again that I will support and give to the NOMINEE and I love them both.

We all know there are always good ones and bad ones of any group, etc. Thank you for taking the time to clarify yours (and others) positions on things.

Please know that I, and I believe most supporters of HRC, fully support YOUR right to disagree with us. That's what makes this process work. I fully support your right to vote for whomever you feel is the right choice. It's nice to hear that my right to do the same thing is being respected.

Again, thank you. And please know that if Bernie is the ultimate nominee, I'll be the first in line at an early voting location to cast my ballot for him. As you say - there is simply too much at stake not to do that.

We ARE fellow Democrats, we want many of the same things, and to be as abusive as many Sanders supporters are does nothing but harm to both us and him.
