Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumI'd be SO embarrassed if Hillary behaved the way Bernie did ...
... during his interview with Judy Woodruff on PBS NewsHour this evening. The contrast between the two candidates is striking.
Hillary answers the tough questions ... Bernie swerves, dodges, avoids, changes the subject, gives vague answers with NO SPECIFICS and AGGRESSIVELY INTERRUPTED Ms. Woodruff as soon as he realizes it's a direct question that he has NO direct answer for.
Watching him, it's difficult for me to see what his fans see in him. But it's very EASY for me to see that Hillary is the better candidate and will be an EXCELLENT president!

(24,376 posts)Now that we're in month 11, his message is old and stale. He has no ability whatsoever to speak to new and changing situations and questions. Hillary is a master of this. She really is poetry in motion, what with the knowledge and feeling she brings to answering new questions.
Bernie reminds me of GHW Bush as parodied by Dana Carvey on SNL - "stay the course...a thousand points of light" - same answer for every question asked.

(15,681 posts)Gawd knows I should for the 1000's of useless cable channels I have with DISH. Or possibly I do have it but don't know where to find it. I would love to watch the interview. Is there any place on the web I might be able to see it? Do you know?

(42,862 posts)... that lets you watch the best PBS shows for free, including entire episodes of NewsHour and clips from NewsHour.
I don't know if Apple TV or any of the other television streaming devices also have the PBS app capabilities. But it's nice to be able to stream PBS NewsHour whenever I want to.

(15,681 posts)that I never use. And Netflix, and Amazon, and DISH.
I'm so pathetic. I watch something like 4 different channels and that's it.
I'm moving next month and considering my options at this point. I want to cancel DISH altogether. I just want to make sure I can get Walking Dead and some HBO and a good news source. I know my Roku will give me most of what I might want but I think I need an upgrade. I have the cheaper one. And since I never use it I'm not really surely what it will give me. Now I'm motivated to find out! Thanks!

NBC News
Sky News (Murdoch-owned media, but a fantastic way to get a global perspective)
CBS app is a paid service ($6 monthly) but their back-catalog + current shows is impressive. (We did the free trial, but chose not to subscribe)
The ABC app is free ... functional but limited, not as extensive as CBS.
HBO-Now & Showtime apps: Subscription-based, but the monthly fees are less than the add-on fees to add them to basic cable or satellite.
Walking Dead ... they're available on Amazon (eventually) but you'll miss out on Talking Dead post-shows.
I think (but I'm not certain) that there's a CNN app that lets you pick-n-choose individual stories to watch (rather than entire streaming broadcasts).
Also, if you dig deep in the Roku app choices, you can often find local live streaming news. For some of them, you have to "tune in" at the correct time, otherwise it's dead-air ... or if it's not real-time "live" it's 30-minute delayed rebroadcast of the day's local news.
We use Netflix, Amazon and Roku to supplement our Verizon service. It would take some major adjustments to be a "streaming only" household. I'd miss AMC, TCM and BBCA. (Although, I do have one friend who is Apple TV only. She and her husband and two kids are quite content with ONLY their streaming AppleTV device, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and over-the-air.)

(9,494 posts)he thinks Hillary is just great (he thinks she is somewhat hawkish but now that's a good thing). Chris Hayes has been inexplicably been sent to Brussels so that leaves Rachel as the only interviewer who will let him get away with his blathering bullshit. Every body else would love to be in the clip of Bernie cracking!

(4,640 posts)did I click that link down thread? It was as I expected. More of the same blah blah blah. Nothing new, nothing enlightening. He SURE as hell does NOT have a grasp of foreign policy.
I am not surprised that he started with the raising of his voice to a woman who DARED to question his foreign policy acumen, and his chance at the nomination. Not surprised at all.
Listening to him is like listening to a broken record.

(55,894 posts)mostly speaking to other ideologues using demagoguery.
And the sick part is, he has used his angry rhetoric to attack the entirety of the Democratic party and equating them with Republicans saying there is no difference.
And now he uses it to also attack his opponent with simplistic slogans and demonizing a segment of our society.
His approach is entirely negative.
I'd say that is his 'genius'. It looks like he's appealing to people's hope whilst spouting angry rhetoric and demonizing others. He is not a hope inspiring candidate. Like Trump, he's appealing to our bases instincts.
Yeah, Wall Street and banks need tighter regulations and oversight.
But harassing your opponent to release her speeches which were entirely legal and her intellectual property purely to impugn her character and make it seem she's done something wrong?
While Jill was making $200,000 a year and their ONE released tax return and finances don't add up? While he benefits from his own SuperPAC's? While his campaign has stolen voter data? And engaged in multiple episodes of unethical/illegal behavior infringing on copyright issues of Union logos etc?
An angry message that demonizes anyone, with you as the anointed savior who will vanquish the demon, and that calls for a political REVOLUTION is not the message or tactics of a Social Democrat or a Progressive.
Demagoguery is an appeal to people that plays on their emotions and prejudices rather than on their rational side. Demagoguery is a manipulative approach often associated with dictators and sleazy politicians that appeals to the worst nature of people.
