Sanders: Superdelegates may now be eyeing switch from ClintonBy Jessie Hellmann March 27, 2016, 09:12 am
After three big wins out west, Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders said he thinks many of the party's superdelegates who have pledged to rival Hillary Clinton will switch to his side.
"I think the momentum is with us," Sanders said on CNN's "State of the Union" with Jake Tapper on Sunday. "A lot of these superdelegates may rethink their positions with Secretary Clinton."
The latest delegate counts still put Sanders behind Clinton, however, with 1,004 pledged delegates to her 1,712.

I'm sure the same supers that Bernie and his acolyte bros demonized for months as evil un-democratic tools of wall street are now eager to join them after he won 3 small population states and remains far behind Hillary, an actual democrat no less.

(4,640 posts)That shows he's trying to toot his own horn just that much more. Why should they switch? She's WINNING.
And lets not forget the harassment and threats to SDs from his followers.

(1,968 posts)unless and until Bernie moves into the lead in pledged delegates. So we can ignore that as campaigning and nothing more.
The interactions with the supers do mean that he's going to have to impress them. I'm not sure a simple, single digit delegate lead will do that if Clinton still holds the popular vote win.

(6,537 posts)Sanders, who has been a DEMOCRAT for all of ten minutes, expects that Super Delegates, who mainly consist of rock ribbed DEMOCRATS will flock to him rather than support a woman who has been working for the DEMOCRATIC party for 30 years and who is ahead in pledged delegates. Sanders also, I might add, has zero momentum among people of color. You know, a HUGE part of the DEMOCRATIC base. hmmm, okay.

(41 posts)I heard he got one. He got a superdelegate! Noone talks about superdelegate momentum you know. Well Bernie has the superdelegate momentum now, and honestly if we look at the momentum, instead of the actual election going on, Bernie won 3 months ago and Hillary just refuses to quit.

Yeah, they'll switch. In his dreams.

(50,861 posts)There aren't that many automatic delegates that will be easily swayed by that type of logic.
