Sanders reportedly left off D.C. primary ballot after Democratic Party error
Because of an error by the D.C. Democratic Party, Sen. Bernard Sanders name is not on the ballot, according to a report by WRC-TV, the local NBC affiliate.
.Both the Vermont senators team and the campaign of rival Hillary Clinton submitted the required $2,500 registration fee and other paperwork but the party did not notify the D.C. Board of Elections by a key deadline.
The registration deadline was March 16, but the party did not send the board Mr. Sanders registration information until the 17th, according to the affiliate. As a result of this error, Mr. Sanders eligibility to appear on the ballot is being contested, WRC explained.
DC Democratic Party Chairwoman Anita Bonds told The Washington Times that the partys primary-plan, which included the paperwork for all candidates, was submitted by 7 p.m. on the 16th. The D.C. Board of Elections offices closes at 4:45 p.m.

(10,014 posts)The Democratic Party made a huge mistake, can you imagine how we Hillary supporters would feel if Hillary was left off the ballot? Hopefully, it can be resolved and soon.

(11,009 posts)If the paperwork for both of them was turned in late as the article says, neither should be on the ballot. And the responsibility according to the article is on the DC Democratic Party.
Granted, it is a right-wing source, but the facts as presented are bullshit for Sanders.
I'm also sure it will get sorted in time for him to lose by 60 points in the primary.

(67,782 posts)....(it IS the Washington Times, after all!), the fact is that the paperwork for both candidates were submitted at the same time. So, any "missed" deadline, and it's doubtful that it was missed anyway since there appears to have been an extension, was missed for BOTH candidates.
Why this is such a big deal ONLY with respect to Sanders is beyond me.
